CGID wrote on Friday, March 25, 2016 (PDT):As the text reveals, this ad is from the time of WWII. The federal government had created and promoted the slogan "Food Will Win the War" and between 1940 and '45, Iowan farmers doubled their output. Yamamoto, knowing of our agricultural and manufacturing potential, knew Japan had no chance of winning a protracted war against the U.S. Germany lost all hope to win their war after failing to take Eastern Europe and Russia for their resources. After the war, the same U.S. resources that crushed Japan and Germany helped put Japan and Europe back on their feet.
